The Creative Process-

I love the feel of winter coming on…not that I like the cold but rather as a working artist on the East coast, I find it a welcoming hibernation and an opportunity to get inside the studio and really explore my medium..brazing and forging metal and wire. I am finding myself drawn to sterling silver once again. Silver has always been the metal of my choice. The work that I am doing lately feels so frivolous….and time consuming. I am a person who is used to accomplishing and I have stayed very busy running my company, ICE RESIN.  so…..with this new peace and time for exploration that winter allows….I am finding all new ideas and won’t except the old way that I once worked. As I construct new pieces…I won’t allow myself the same bend in my wire or the same cuts in my sheet metal. I insist on all new techniques and . I have a lot of throw aways accumulating …..but I can always melt it all down again and roll it out. This is reassuring to me and after all, it really is only time that I am using and new ideas that I am producing.

I do know from many years of experience that this is the only way to the real creative e process. It is the way to delve in deep and find a new direction. How exciting!

Here are a few new pieces that I have been working out. New prayer box forms..(Im teaching this in Mexico and Bead Fest Philly. and Forging and brazing a heavy gauge wire. FullSizeRender copy FullSizeRender FullSizeRender copy 8 FullSizeRender copy 9 FullSizeRender copy 2 FullSizeRender copy 3 FullSizeRender copy 4
