September 8th : RESIN 101

Explore the vast possibilities resins have to offer in jewelry in combination with metal bezels. Learn proper mixing, application, combining and pouring layers and safety tips. This hands on workshop offers many foundational techniques from filling hollow bezel forms with photo text, foil and layering of materials. Add a tassel with wire to complete.

Kit includes- Ice resin, metal bezels, metallic foils, (finished piece with foil) 2 mixed metal bezels, bronze sheet metal, sandpaper, 16 gauge round wire, plastic gloves image transfers,

Please bring- round needle and chain nose pliers, scissors, ball peen hammer and small anvil to finish project.
Optional- images or small objects to put in your bezel

I provide Ice resin, images, markers, cups, stir sticks, resin wipes, paper sealants, oil pastel, Tools I provide if needed- drills and drill bits

September 9th : Wax + Resin

Reminiscent of this ancient technique and colorful appearance of enamelwork. …..only these techniques are done with the application an variation of color on metal with a final coat of jewelers grade, crystal clear, glass like resin.
Using bronze sheet metal and wire learn a vast variety of unique surface and patina techniques and methods. Derive color in your work from resins, enamel paint, paper, waxes, permanent ink, caulk transfers, application of photo transfers, inclusions and text.
Cold enamel surface work includes crackle, scraffitto, matte and scratched surface. Learn cold enamel pliqué a jour and cold fired enamel. These are in depth techniques to create color design and texture in your metalwork. Application of cold enamel on wirework.
Build in layers to create a few pendants and bring home a journal full of new ideas for color on metal.

Kit includes bronze sheet metal, wire, rivets, ice resin, paints, mica and all colors used to create cold enameling.

Tools that I will provide- dapping blocks, forming blocks, ring mandrel, bracelet mandrel, use of fordom drills, bits,

Please bring- needle nose and chain nose pliers, wire snips, tin snips( or jewelers saw) metal files, ball peen hammer, center punch, awl, small found objects, text, photos or anything other objects that you would like to include in your work.
